Coach John Mance
Coach John Mance brings more than two decades of coaching experience and a lifetime of wrestling excellence to Brock Wrestling.
A highly accomplished athlete and coach, he was a four-time North Carolina All-State wrestler, a three-time state finalist, and a two-time North Carolina State Champion. During his senior season, he finished undefeated at 44-0 with 38 pins before continuing his wrestling career at NC State and Appalachian State University, where he was part of a Southern Conference Championship team.
Throughout his coaching career, Coach Mance has built a reputation for developing champions on and off the mat. His accomplishments include being named Texas Assistant Coach of the Year, leading teams to a Texas Dual State Championship and multiple state runner-up finishes, earning five District Coach of the Year honors, and guiding numerous district and regional championship teams. He has coached seven individual state champions, more than 60 Texas All-State wrestlers, 25 UIL state finalists, four national champions, three Team USA World Team members, and two future UFC fighters.
Coach Mance is also a respected educator, teaching AP history at Brock High School while continuing to mentor student-athletes in the classroom and on the wrestling mat. He is the son of legendary Appalachian State wrestling coach Paul Mance, a member of both the Appalachian State Athletics Hall of Fame and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, continuing a family tradition of excellence in the sport.
Coach Mance's philosophy centers on discipline, character, relentless effort, and helping every athlete reach their full potential. His passion for wrestling and commitment to developing young people have made him a respected leader in the wrestling community and an invaluable part of the Brock Eagles wrestling family.
Family is at the heart of Coach Mance's life. He and his wife, Stephanie, have been happily married for 27 years and are proud parents of a son, two daughters, and loving grandparents who cherish spending time together with their growing family
